Color Class

Color and contrast are what make a quilt really pop. If you’ve ever struggled with choosing fabric for a quilt, this class is for you. Join Lea McComas in a wonderful adventure to unlock the keys to selecting colors and fabrics for your quilts. There’s no risk, no anguish, and no pain. Instead, the time you spend choosing colors and fabrics will be filled with exciting realizations and fun explorations. Lea gave a brief presentation on color at the Great Falls Quilt Guild. This class is an in depth study on color. The class is 6 sessions meeting the first Thursday of each month. The second class is scheduled for February 4, 2010. Lea welcomes additional students and will coordinate a makeup class for the first session.

A Janome Educator is coming to Big Sky Quilts to introduce Janome’s Digitizer software line and to help you decide which program is right for you. Janome’s Digitizer is the software that allows you to customize embroidery patterns for your Janome Memory Craft 11000 Embroidery Machine and other embroidery machines as well. Ideal for those who currently own Janome’s Digitizer Jr. or for those who have not yet purchased digitizing software. No sewing machine, laptop, or software required.

Learn tips and tricks to enhance your embroidery from editing, to digitizing to layouts that require multiple hoopings. The Digitizer Jr. is a low cost version of Digitizer with limited functions. It can be upgraded to the full version. No sewing machine required. You will need a laptop with Digitizer Jr. loaded on it and ready to go.

Janome’s Digitizer Pro V2 & V3

This is a three day class and it barely skims the surface of the program. The first day will be spent going over every icon and function that the software will do. During the day you will edit designs to show you how to join, enlarge and reduce to allow for trouble free embroidery. The second day will be taking an image and how to digitize the design using auto, semi auto and manual digitizing after making it a usable image. The morning of the third day will be an introduction to areas that haven't been covered and a time for answering questions so bring a list of areas that you desire to have covered. The afternoon will be spent on using everything that we have learned and creating a lace like window charm using editing and digitizing. When you are done with this class you will understand how to make the program work for you so you will be able to express your creativity with embroidery. This fully functional Digitizer program combines an intuitive interface with a powerful software engine. That means you get all the tools you need to create amazing and unique embroidery designs. Better still, the program is easy enough to operate that you can actually use all these incredible tools! From editing individual stitches to layouts of large, multi-hoop designs and full stitch-out simulations, the Digitizer software can handle it all.
