This adorable patchwork penguin is made using conventional piecing techniques using flannel, quilting weight fabrics or a combination. Pattern includes directions for 3 different size penguins, small, medium and large. Blocks are combined to make a quilt or a single large block used for this pillow.
Blocks are constructed using basic techniques of strip piecing, chain piecing and flip and stitch. Even the most experienced quilter will be challenged with the construction of the face unit, stitching 23 pieces together to form the 4 ½” x 5 ½” cute face unit. The same techniques are used to construct the body units of the penguin.
This class will be the opportunity to work with small pieces and flannel while learning some tips and techniques to make this fun and easy pillow. 2 options for finishing the pillow will be included, pillow flap or zipper.
Kit is available for purchase with fabric sufficient to construct the 60 inch x 66 inch lap quilt with 20 penguin blocks. Backing and binding not included. Enough fabric for the penguins is in the kit, an additional 1 yard of background will need to be purchased.
