Quilters Select Thread by Alex Anderson
Perfect Cotton—Plus is available in 60 weight ply 400m spools in a wide variety of colors. This thread is everything both machine and hand piecers love about sewing with Egyptian Cotton thread “plus” the added strength needed for free hand machine quilting.
Para-Cotton Poly 80 weight thread on 400m spools in a variety of colors. Thread has been thermally treated to remove undesirable stretchiness and shrinkage. This process reduces the shiny sheen to make the thread feel, stitch and look like mercerized cotton!

BIG SKY QUILTS CLASSES
Registration for classes can be in person, by phone or on-line. You must be paid for a class to receive a class supply list. When you register on-line for a class you will receive a follow up e-mail with the supply list. If you want to use a classroom machine call Big Sky Quilts to reserve a machine and make arrangements to learn how to use the sewing machine. You need to be familiar with the sewing machine you are using, including threading the machine and winding a bobbin.
Stash Buster Club
2nd Friday of each month 1:00pm to 4:00 pm
$5.00 fee paid to instructor
Join us and get ideas to use that fabric you just could not live without, and is still in its store bag
Bring your own machine or use a classroom machine. Bring fabric and sewing/quilting supplies.
Open Sew
Our classroom is available for quilters to come and work on those UFO’s in your closet. Every Wednesday from 1 pm to 8 pm you are welcome to come in and work. Cutting tables and irons are available. Bring your own machine or use a classroom machine. You will need to purchase needles and bobbins if you are using a classroom machine or bring needed accessories with your machine. Please call the shop at 727-1757 to be sure the classroom will be available.
September Classes
Quilting 101
This class is for those individuals with little or no quilting experience learn the basics of constructing a quilt during 7 class sessions. Through lecture, demonstration and lots of hands-on experience learn the basics of making beautiful quilts. Focus will be on basic techniques, understanding how a quilt is constructed, safe use of equipment, including a rotary cutter and tips from experienced instructors. Using the Nifty Nine Patch quilt pattern participants will construct a 50”x 62” quilt from beginning to final completion. Most class time will be spent on the actual construction of the quilt top.

Quick and Easy Table Runner
Let your creativity run wild to create this table runner. Alternating 2 ½” strips and 2 ½” squares create a unique table runner to fit your table. Using a rotary cutter to cut strips and sew together with a consistent ¼” seam allowance construct the table runner top. Be sure to measure your table prior to class. This is a great project for beginners or a quick project for the holidays or a gift. Instructions will be given at class, not specific pattern required.

Quilt as You Go Runner
Make a seasonal table runner using 2 - 3 inch straight cut strips set on the diagonal and a 6 or 7 inch fussy cut square for the center focus set on point. Center of runner will change diagonal direction of strips. Runner top size is approximately 14 ½ x 36 inches. Pattern available at class for purchase from instructor for $6.00.

Binding Basics
Binding is the final finishing touch to any quilt project you make and often the most overlooked. This class will teach you two techniques to finish any projects. Skills include how to measure your project, decide on the best type of binding to use and how much fabric you need to bind your specific project. Making, applying, joining and finishing straight grain and bias by machine and hand will be covered. Bring a small project, such as a table runner, ready to be bound. Also bring at least ¾ yard matching or coordinating fabric for hands-on experience using techniques learned in class.
