This spool holder does NOT fit the 9400 but the only difference is the thread guide. This one requires a square opening and the correct model for the 9400 uses a round hole, where the extra spool pin fits on the top of your machine.
The holder screws securely into the top back of your machine and allows you to use upright cones of thread that wouldn’t ordinarily fit on the usual horizontal pin.
