Stonehenge Solstice under the Big Sky
Big Sky Quilts, Inc. created 6 of the iconic Stonehenge stones to welcome people for the celebration of the 10th Anniversary of Stonehenge fabric. In Celtic and British legends, the white stag, is a guiding symbol to new beginnings, places, insights, and knowledge. The white stag wanders through the stones of Stonehenge but always stays just out of reach. Our Druid is a high-ranking priestess from ancient Celtic cultures. Our priestess fuels the imagination and inspiring all to join our celebration.
Standing at a staggering 9 feet high, the Stones and were created to represent the Stonehenge image on the panel. Each stone is made from installation board, covered with 5 yards of batting and Stonehenge fabric. We decided Stonehenge fabric is better than any paint we could create. The stag is a 54inch 3D archery target decoupaged with 8 yards of Stonehenge fabric. The symbols placed on the stag were cut from the Stonehenge Anniversary fabric. These symbols represent British folklore and Celtic mythology. Our Druid is an elegant 3foot doll. Her dress was designed with 3 yards of Stonehenge fabric and her cape is made from 4 ½ yards of Stonehenge Anniversary fabric. This display uses over 45 yards of Stonehenge material.
This display has drawn customers to our store to watch our creative progress. Our store display is unique allowing everyone to experience Stonehenge and be inspired. Each of our employees contributed to the success. Our customers have brought their children in to check our progress and see this eye-catching display.
Our goal was to have fun and encourage others to use their imagination and bring their ideas to life. Our customer’s minds are working overtime to create a quilt for this adventure. The panel and block party are providing the platform for people to share ideas and enter the competitions to win. This is just the beginning. Just wait and see what we do next.
